About the Author
Dame Agatha Mary Clarissa Christie is best known for her detective novels, short story collections, plays and famous detective sleuths Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple. The Last Séance is one of her best short story collections that I have came across.
Dame Agatha Mary Clarissa Christie, Lady Mallowan, DBE was an English writer known for her sixty-six detective novels and fourteen short story collections, particularly those revolving around fictional detectives Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple. She also wrote the world’s longest-running play, The Mousetrap, which was performed in the West End from 1952 to 2020, as well as six novels under the pseudonym Mary Westmacott. In 1971, she was made a Dame (DBE) for her contributions to literature. Guinness World Records lists Christie as the best-selling fiction writer of all time, her novels having sold more than two billion copies.
She is one of the great authors that I have come across in my book reading passion. Her stories holds a place in your thoughts that makes you read more and more till the end. The famous fictional “Hercule Poirot” who I first saw in the movie “Murder in the Orient Express” (featuring some of the great actors likes Johnny Deep, Michelle Pfeiffer, Kenneth Branagh, Penelope Cruz, Josh Gad and many more). Her picturization of Hercule Poirot made me instantly fallen in love in the character. A character whose impact is similar to Sherlock Holmes, Nancy Drew, Jack Reacher and many more.
What is it about the horror or Supernatural forces that attract our thoughts?
May be it might be the chilling trills and the strange feeling that spreads in our thoughts which forces us to predict the outcome of such stories.
Or other question that rises does Supernatural forces, elements or phenomena does really exists?
Normally the answer would start off with a debate regarding the existences of Supernatural. Some believe in them and some don’t. There are things around us that we aren’t aware off, but it doesn’t mean that their presence does not exist.
To be honest, I wouldn’t hold on to the curiosity for reading short stories. Hardly one or two stories would suit my interest others I would force myself to read. Skip them completely. I love horror stories and for the love of it the brought the book. On reading the first story written by Agatha Christie, I blindly thoughts the others will be boring. As I went on reading, I changed my thought about this novel. Each stories captivative in its own way .Not all the Supernatural force exist to torment your soul. As we see in the horror movie that has hilarious makeup, flying ghost and funny drama, ridiculous costumes. That makes you loose interest. But this isn’t the case with the novel ‘The Last Séance’. You would like most of the stories.
Now that we are talking about the Supernatural, whats makes us so scared about it? the entity or the rumors or madeup stories about them increases our fear and these rumors increases and spread themself as they travel.
But in all this fasad, it doesnt mean the Supernatural does not exist?
There are many people who has been throught these suitation and are live to tell their survival stories. I am not enforcing the thought of their existence. It’s still your opinion and belief that matters.
