About the Author

Pauline Sara Jo Moyes (born 4 August 1969), known professionally as Jojo Moyes, is an English journalist and, since 2002, a romance novelist and screenwriter. She is one of only a few authors to have twice won the Romantic Novel of the Year Award by the Romantic Novelists’ Association and has been translated into twenty-eight languages.

Early in her writing career, Moyes wrote three manuscripts that were all initially rejected. With one child, another baby on the way, and a career as a journalist, Moyes committed to herself that if her fourth book was rejected, she would stop her efforts. After submitting the first three chapters of her fourth book to various publishers, six of them began a bidding war for the rights.

Moyes became a full-time novelist in 2002, when her first book Sheltering Rain was published. She continues to write articles for The Daily Telegraph.

Me Before You is a romance novel by Jojo Moyes, the book was first published on 5 January 2012 in the United Kingdom. A sequel titled After You was released 29 September 2015 through Pamela Dorman Books. A second sequel, Still Me, was published in January 2018.

My Thoughts

The Free and Energetic Souls

Life is worth living, when you know how to live it to its fullest. Sometimes while vacations or watching TV or social media we come across people who are extremely energetic people who live their life every minute and every seconds of it. They don’t stop for anything. Want to try everything in life, every excitement they would fine and also enjoy a successful career. They have everything, some people would just only dream about it. But what if all this is taken away in a snap?

Life changes in a blink of an eye. Everything comes to standstill. One fatal accident changes your life forever. It might be or might not be your mistake. But in all this tragedy, life doesn’t stop, it will go on, but you are stopped where you are.

The Responsible ones

We even come across people, who can only imagine to be free in life, but as they are bound of responsibility for their family. Every minute and second are spend on family liability. It’s not that they don’t have dreams, they too have wonderful dreams but it’s chained up by lack of financial support and family responsibilities. Their dreams are locked up in a box. It’s difficult to write for such people, it’s not they are not excited or happy like others. There is everything in their life too. Family, friends, partner and many more, only the freewill to fly freely in the open sky is limited.

This is the life of William Traynor and Louisa Clark.

The Storyline

This is the story about William Traynor and Louisa Clark. Both of them belong to two different worlds. William who likes to live life to its fullest, enjoy every second of it. He has everything love, flame, career, money etc all could a anyone wish for. Louisa a simple girl struggling at every step of her life. She wants to be in fashion industry and she also wants to chase her dreams, but she couldn’t as her family is going through financial problems. Louisa twists between jobs only that could support her family. Still she smiles and never feels bad for anything. She is cheerful all the time and Louisa always tries to make people happy around her.

The story takes a twist when these two people collide with each other as Will meets with an accident and ends up on a wheelchair and Louisa becomes her caretaker.

What I like about the Novel

William’s life changes when a fatal accident paralyzed from neck down. Will had everything, he loved his life very much, but an accident took everything even his happiness. Now, he can only feel pain, anger and helplessness which make him sad. That sadness comes in a form of anger, trying to push everyone away. Will is tired of the sympathy that people are giving him. He can’t take the pain and trouble that he is feeling and the same he is causing to the people around him. It was funny also, went Will meets nervous Louisa for the first time. He makes this weird gestured that actually makes you laugh and scares Louisa.

Lousia Seems positive

Louisa being in problem all the time, but she never stops smiling. Though she likes or doesn’t like anything. Louisa has different taste in fashion, but she is cute and funny that would lighten up the room. Louisa doesn’t give up on Will, in spite of his anger and irritating behavior. She even confronts him about her needs for financial support to her family, the reason that she wouldn’t leave this job. Will start changing his thoughts and behavior towards Louisa and everyone, which seems like a good sign, through he decides to end his life after 6 months.

Louisa comes to know about this accidentally and she tries everything that would chance Will’s mind. She starts taking him outside, to make Will realize that there is more to life, than what he thinks. They start getting closer to each other. You can even feel Will’s attraction towards Louisa on her birthday when her boyfriend Patrick gives her a gift. Louisa and Will share their first kiss; you really start thinking that now Will have a new perspective towards life. But it doesn’t!

Will break Louisa heart. Why people think that sacrifice is the only way out?

You can actually feel that anger on Will while reading the story.
It’s very hard to let go of the person you love, but we to respect their decision too. Life teaches us many thing like to love, laugh, to cry, feel sad or happy but most of it, Life teaches us not to hold on to things and go on in life. Be what you want to be, chase your dreams, live life to the fullest. You might know when life could change!

Being a debut novelist Jojo Moyes has beautifully portrait human emotions.

About the Characters

Louisa Clark

A young girl in her twenties; funny, cheerful and talkative; but whole lot of family responsibilities on her shoulder. But she still keeps a positive attitude towards life, which you cannot find in everyone. She has a very different taste in fashion, which kind of looks odd to others, but she carries herself very flawlessly. Her nature is so delightful, everyone around her feels pleasant. This is what Louisa Clark is!

William Traynor

A rich and handsome man, in his thirties. He life is what could a common man would just dream for. Will loved his life, but it is all taken away because of an accident and that paralyzed him from neck down. This breaks Will completely. His life takes a turn, when Louisa enters his life as a caretaker and changes his attitude towards life. He falls in love with her.

There is not much to talk about Nathan. He is a muscular handsome guy who does all the hard work of William’s, changing his clothes, brushing him and cleaning him. As you go on with the story Nathan also understands Will’s pain and emotions and his also a good friend. He even helps Louisa with the plans to make Will happy and change his decision. is always there for Will and Louisa whenever they needed him. He is a person, you can rely on.

My Review

A book which can make you laugh and cry and also shows that there more to life than we know! Worth Reading! This is Jojo Moyes debut book, that certainly makes a place in your heart.

About the Novel

Lou Clark knows lots of things
She knows how many footsteps there are between the bus stops and her home. She knows she likes working in The Buttered Bun tea shop and she knows she might not love her boyfriend Patrick.
What she doesn’t know is she’s about to lose her job or that knowing what’s coming is what keeps her sane.
Will Traynor knows his motorcycle accident took away his desire to live. He knows everything feels very small and rather joyless now, and he knows exactly how his going to put a stop to that.
What Will doesn’t know is that Lou is about to burst into his world in a riot of color. And neither of them knows they’re going to change the other for all time.

Happy Reading!!!
